Laser scanners are either mounted or handheld. These types make use of different technologies. Such technologies are phase shift, time of flight, and triangulation. The basis of time of flight scanning is the light impulse of the laser.

3D White Light Scanner

Then, the scanner reconstructs a 3D model of the object from the measurements taken from the deformation of the pixels.
